Owner Joel Hammond has always loved leather and has a long family history in the leather business.  Leather work is in his families blood, stemming from the late 1600’s where his 9th great grandfather Elder John Strong and his son Ebenezer Strong were both leather tanners in rural Massachusetts. Jumping up to the 1940’s, his great grandfather Arthur Moore was a shoe cobbler in the small town of Otisville, Michigan.  From Arthurs little quaint shop, he produced fine quality leather footwear for the residents of his small town.

In recent years, Joel has developed a love for the leather craft and has worked tirelessly to perfect his leather making.  Through this process he wanted to find a way to get his products into other peoples hands, so they could enjoy it as much as he does.  This is how Hammond Leather Goods was born!
